Deepwright: Awakening

A cozy dwarven crafting & automation game

Mine ore by hand. Forge it. Build a workshop by the river that grows into a water-powered factory – and wake the Ancestor Machine.

Dig in

Surface · 0 m

You washed ashore.
Your ancestors left a machine.

You’re the last descendant of an old dwarven clan, stranded on the island where your forebears once worked. At the mouth of their mine sleeps their greatest creation – the Ancestor Machine, barely ticking along on emergency power.

It wants copper, gears and honest work. A clockwork raven has opinions about how you deliver them.

Level 1 · The Forge · 12 m

Everything starts with your own two hands.

Swing the pickaxe, feed the furnace, hammer glowing bars into tools on the anvil. Handwork feels good here – and the finest pieces will always be the ones you forged yourself.

  • Mine copper, tin, coal and iron
  • Smelt bars, forge tools and weapons
  • Research new blueprints by finding things

Level 2 · The River Works · 40 m

Then you put the river to work.

Raise a waterwheel, run shafts and gearboxes, lay conveyor belts. Stamp mills chew through ore springs, belts carry the ore to your furnaces – and one day you step back and watch your little factory run on its own.

  • Waterwheels, shafts & gearboxes
  • Conveyors, splitters, mergers and sorters
  • Alchemy: herbs, stills, potions and alloys

Level 3 · Home & Hearth · 85 m

Build a home worth defending.

Raise walls, roofs and workshops plank by plank. Somewhere on the island your clan’s lost descendants are waiting – each with a talent and a trade. Bring them home, and they’ll work beside you.

  • Free building on the grid, multi-storey
  • Rescue named descendants as helpers
  • Grow from camp to workshop to dwarven town

Level 4 · The Deep · 160 m

The deeper you dig, the louder it gets.

Danger grows with noise and depth – never with the clock. Little thieves creep in at night, goblins stir in the tunnels, and bosses guard the way down. What you forge is what you and your guards will wear.

  • Seven biomes, one mine each
  • Forged gear with real weight
  • No hunger timer, no rush – you set the pace

The bottom · 312 m

Wake the Ancestor Machine.

Every stage asks for more – and more intricate – parts: plates and rods, gears, bearings, gearboxes, pistons. Every stage you complete wakes the machine a little more and opens the way deeper.

“An anvil without a hammer is just a very heavy table.”

— the Ancestor Raven
